Public Art

New Virginia Hometown Pride is beautifying the community with art projects aplenty. The colorful mural pictured here now provides a warm welcome on the north side of town, at the corner of West St and Dunn St. It was painted by Des Moines artist Ally Frame and was funded by a grant from Warren County Economic Development Co.

Our New Virginia volunteers also raised money and comissioned artists for 3 additional art pieces that will be completed in early 2021:

1. A mural on West Street, designed and painted by Iowa artists Karen Gergehly and Tacy Cummings.

2. Mini murals to be added to the facade of the Depot, painted by local high school art students.

3. 15 street pole banners, to be desigend by Indianola artist Jeff Tadsen

Town Slogan

The New Virginia Hometown Pride committee came up with a new slogan for the town this year. "New Virginia: It just feels like home." With the help of these new art pieces, and the many efforts of our committee members, New Virginia is feeling even homier!
