Norwalk Hometown Pride helped beautify their town and boost community spirit this year, despite having to cancel a couple big events due to the pandemic.

Clean Parks for Pups

Hometown Pride worked with Norwalk Parks and Recreation to install 15 dog clean-up stations in Norwalk's parks and trails. The costs were covered by contributions from Michael Foods, the Parks and Recreation department, and local residents. The faces of real Norwalk pups are featured on several of the stations.

Downtown Planters

The committee worked with a local metal artist Paul Swift to design large metal planters to be placed downtown. Our volunteers are also working with the City to select benches and other amenities for the downtown.

Front Porch Norwalk

The 3rd annual Front Porch Norwalk series featured a series of 3 evenings of informal gatherings across Norwalk. Residents were encouraged to invite their neighbors over to their front yard or driveway for small, (socially-distanced) gatherings.

Veterans Memorial: Landscaping & Ceremony

For Veterans Day, Hometown Pride hosted an outdoor ceremony at the Warren County Veterans Memorial. The memorial was a 2019 project of Hometown Pride (with support from many partners). The committee also funded  landscaping at the memorial this year.

Norwalk already has big plans for 2021. They plan to bring back Norwalk Music Fest for the 3rd time, host festivities at the 4th of July, bring a new mural to town, and more.

A big thanks to our volunteers in Norwalk for rolling with all the changes this year, and being a strong force for good in their community. We are also grateful for the generous support of our funders and partners!
